Stewart Baird
President
Background
Currently General Manager at MOI International (Australia) with responsibility for all Australia and New Zealand operations. I joined the Bakery & Foodservice industry at Unilever Australia in 1998 and have held positions at Peerless Foods also. I studied at Deakin University, Macquarie Graduate School of Management and Southern Cross University.
Role in the Australian Society of Baking
As President my role is to provide overall governance and assist the Board to continue to develop and implement our strategic direction whilst ensuring we meet our obligations to all stakeholders.
Vision for the Society
My vision for the next two years is to ensure we develop our offering to members in such a way as we are providing a compelling reason to join the society. My goal is to double our membership during my two year tenure.

Imran Ibrahim
Vice President / Secretary
Background
Imran is the Bakery Account Manager at Intralox, bringing over 20 years of expertise in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, he specialises in delivering innovative solutions to commercial bakeries, focusing on enhancing automation, reliability, and food safety.
Role in the Australian Society of Baking
My role as the Vice President in the Australian Society of Baking involves supporting the President in leading the organisation, helping to develop and implement strategic initiatives, and representing the society at various events and meetings. I also chair the Conference & Events Committee, ensure effective communication within the organisation, and step in for the President when necessary.
My role as the Secretary in the Australian Society of Baking typically involves several key responsibilities i.e., exercise due diligence and ensure proper adherence to legal requirements which requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, knowledge of corporate governance practices, and understanding of relevant legislation.
Vision for the Society
My vision is to strengthen and expand our membership base by actively organising and promoting the Australian Society’s engagement initiatives, including Brunch Networking and Annual Conferences. I am committed to sharing best practices from subject matter experts on bakery topics such as ingredients, processes, manufacturing, and food safety. Personal Interests
As a family we enjoy travelling to new places to absorb the culture and cuisines of the world. I enjoy running and participating in most activities including soccer, swimming, tennis, and most recently pickleball 😊


Mark Dennien
ASB Director and ASB conference organising committee member
Background
Completed trades in Bread Baking, Pastrycooking, Flour Milling. Currently Technical Applications Manager for Lallemand Baking Solutions. Past Chair of ASB, Current President National Baking Industry Association. Worked in Baking industry for 35+ years.
Role in the Australian Society of Baking
Director of the ASB , and part of the organising committee for ASB Conferences. The ASB conference is one of the highlights of the baking industry in Australia and having quality speakers from within Australia and international is a key factor in great conference.
Vision for the Society
To grow our industry and share knowledge, help it to be a career of choice for young people. To ensure the industry as a whole is strong with a good knowledge base, and be a community of people that can engage with each other and various baking topics.

Lindsay Webber
Board Member / Treasurer / Member of Scholarship Committee
Background
Qualified baker now semi-retired.
One third owner of the 2 largest independent wholesale bakeries in Southeast Queensland – Homestyle (30 years’ service) and Gold Coast Bakeries.
51 years in the baking industry.
Winner of LA Judge Award in 1978.
Past Chairman of ASB.
Inducted into ASB Hall of Fame (2017).
Founding Father of ASB.
Member of American Society of Baking since 1982.
Role in the Australian Society of Baking
Treasurer Functions (eg payment of invoices; ensuring financial compliance – BAS returns, etc; liaison with external accountants – P & L reports; annual audits)
Assist with setting scholarship papers.
National Judge for scholarship papers.
Vision for the Society
ASB is dedicated to promoting the advancement of baking science and technology and to the exchange of information and interaction of baking industrial professionals.
Personal Interests
Passionate about training and encouraging young people to excel in their chosen field.
Chairman of Golden West Apprenticeships (employs apprentices and trainees across one third of regional and remote Queensland).
Enjoy gardening
Follow car racing (especially V8 Supercars and Formula 1)
Revel in observing my 2 young grandsons grow and develop.


Leo Mato
Board Member + Communications / Membership Sub-Committee member
Background
I have been involved in the baking industry for over 40 years. Having finished my apprenticeship at East Sydney TAFE in 1988, I have worked in family and my own businesses. I have spent 20 years in technical and sales roles within the Flour milling industry through Allied Mills, Manildra Flour Mills and last three years as National Business development Manager with Peerless Foods / EOI.
Role in the Australian Society of Baking
It’s an honour to be on the board of the ASB and
be involved within a Sub-Committee position. The role allows the opportunity to support the President and other Board members develop and implement strategies to advance the future direction of the Association to the benefit Members and the Baking industry.
Vision for the Society
My vision for the Association would be to grow the membership, critically through the next generation of Bakers, Pastry cooks and young industry leaders.
The Association should be a place to provide mentorship and support to is members through the variety of skill and experience it possesses through its membership base.
My current role at EOI does come with the privilege of being one of the event partners alongside the Australian Society of Bakers to the Australian Baking Scholarship completions featuring the Arthur E Denison Trophy & the Sydney J Packham Baking Industry Medal.
From a personal level something I am keen to continue supporting strongly as it continues to support & develop current and future leaders in our industry.
Personal Interests
Family and hanging out with Grandchildren, Sport, Fishing, Old Aussie V8s particularly old Holden’s- sorry Ford fans.
Janet Blythman
Board Member
Background
Retired, after 46 years in the baking industry holding key positions in sales, procurement, production Management, Category Management & Industrial Relations Association.
Role in the Australian Society of Baking
Active member for 23 years. Head up the Australian Baking Scholarship Committee, of which I have been involved with since the inaugural year 1990 as an entrant, judge committee member. Served on the executive committee of the ASB for 15 years, and Chair of the ASB from 2012-2014.
Nominated for the Hall of Fame in 2023.
Vision for the Society
Personal Interests
Gardening, out door activities such as bush walking, assisting with baking industry events such as trade shows and competitions.
